on tonight, and right now though it's a wintry mix of snow and freezing rain through oklahoma city and dangerous thunderstorms with reports of pea-sized hail and you can see the lightning strikes popping up across dallas, texas into she haveport and all this energy sliding northeast. a lot of moisture coming up from the gulf that's just enhancing it. what does that mean for today? we don't have a tornado watch yet, but i anticipate we'll see one for this afternoon, especially for the areas highlighted in the brighter orange color. good risk for a moderate risk for the risk of tornadoes, hail and possible damaging winds. some of these winds could get up to 50 miles per hour or greater. if it's not enough where we have the lightning and thunder and rain we also have dense fog. make it any more dangerous to see if there e's debris blown apart. this is really tough this morning for those that are traveling. be very careful with the fog out there and snow building in later today and tonight. a real mess for this christmas. i hope everyone can stay inside as much as possible. >> lots for

. haywood, union city, about to move into san ramone. solano scattered rain to report for this part of the bay area. bulk of the activity in the southern third of the bay area. you can see development out to the west. the yellows and reds, indicating the increase in the rainfall rates san jose to sunnyvale. out toward campbell, blossoo m hill road. increase in the rainfall and the possibility of hail with some thunderstorms. keep that in mind at least in the short term. as far as temperatures, its cool. mainly in the 40s to around 50. santa rosa in 40. haywood 48 and san jose around 46 degrees. forecast for today, cool showers this morning, we will hold on to the chance of showers right on in to the afternoon with temperatures only maxing out in the low to mid50s. yesterday's storm, that cold front, today we have the speckled clouds off shore. that's a signature of cold unstable air and that will sweep in to the area for today. we will hold onto the sun, passing clouds and heavier downpours. here is the forecast model, 10:00 showing you scattered rain showers, it's doing a good job

, no medicine, a bombed out hospital, and a lot of very, very desperate civilians in syria's largest city. it was after filing that devastating report that richard engel and his team were captured. >> we were driving in syria, about five days ago in what we thought was a rebel-controlled area. we were with some of the rebels. and as we were moving down the road, a group of gunmen just literally jumped out of the trees and bushes on the side of the road. there were probably 15 gunmen. they were wearing ski masks. they were heavily armed. they dragged us out of the car. they had a container truck positioned, waiting by the side of the road. they put us into that container truck. we were with some gunmen, some rebels who were escorting us. they executed one of them on the spot. then they took us to a series of safe houses and interrogation places, and they kept us blindfolded, bound. we weren't physically beaten or tortured. it was a lot of psychological torture, threats of being killed. they made us choose which one of us would be shot first. and when we refused, there were mock shootings.

city campus in a week happened here at national academy foundation. a woman was buzzed into the locked doors of the prep building where milling schoolers attend classes. administrators say she failed to check in at the front office. they say she was delivering a birthday cake to a relative when a schoolworker challenged her in the hall. she pulled out a knife, cutting the worker's hands and was later arrested. it alarmed a grandmother of a student here who asked wjz not to identify her. >> i feel fearful for my grandson also. now you have to go through a procedure before he could come out. and i think it's good. >> reporter: she is concerned about outsiders gaining access to classrooms following the shooting in connecticut. >> there is no explaining it away. it's just -- it's awful. it's gut wrenching. >> reporter: school officials would not say why the person was originally buzzed in through the door and how it all escalated into a weapon being pulled. it follows an attack on a 7th grader at calverton middle school last week who said adults, including another parent, allowed on campus
